Offense
Although having 4 turnovers the 49ers offense remained in the game throughout the 60 minutes. An inconsistent running attack forced the 49ers the look for options in the passing game were aside from the second year tight end George Kittle and rookie receiver Date Pettis wasn’t much to lean on. Redzone issues continued to plague the 49es going 0-2 on Sunday continuing serious redzone struggles dating back to last year. However, 49ers are unlikely to come across many defenses like the Vikings, therefore, this game can be portrayed as an outlier and with an easier matchup next week against Detroit at home look for a bounce-back game from Jimmy and the offense.
Defense
Coming into the season the 49ers Defensive unit was the question mark of the team but proved Sunday that they were the primary reason the 49ers hung on late. The pressure was constant from the D-line with a pair of sack from Buckner and pressure from Armstead and Thomas. The 49ers also seem to have found a running mate for Rueben Foster as Fred Warner played exceptionally in his NFL debut racking up 12 tackles a pair of pass break-ups and a forced fumble. The secondary also seemed to hold firm with Sherman holding his own coming off the injury and Witherspoon manning the other side along with Tartt and Colbert displaying explosion.
